Sawmills, NC- Mr. Charlie William “Bill” Sanders, Jr., age 73, died Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Born November 30, 1936 in Caldwell County, he was a son of the late Charlie and Mary Alice Roberts Sanders and the husband of the late Hazel Benfield Sanders. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Other than his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Harvey Ray Sanders, Carroll Sanders, John Sanders and Mel Cade Sanders.
He is survived by his son, Tim Sanders and wife Myra of Sawmills; a God-daughter, Tamara Nichols and husband Leonard of Hudson; one brother, Dwayne Sanders of Lenoir; 5 sisters, Annie Mae Hice, Bonnie Downs and husband Carroll; Mary Dickerson and husband Pete, Denette Walker and husband Lee all of Lenoir; Beatrice Greene of Conover; one Grandson, Conley William “C.W.” Sanders of Sawmills; one God-nephew, Thomas Nichols and one God-niece, Tausha Nichols, both of Hudson.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 6, 2010 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at Evans Funeral Service & Crematory. A graveside service will follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery in Granite Falls.
The family is gathering at the home of Tim and Myra Sanders, 4169 Horseshoe Bend Road, Hudson, NC.
